Dean Uhrich Welcomes CNAS Community

Dear CNAS Community,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 academic year! Whether this is your first time on campus or you are returning to UCR, many of us have been eager for the fall quarter to start and to be on campus… and here we are!

As we transition back to in-person learning and continue to adapt to the world around us, know that we are committed to keeping you safe while providing the highest quality educational experience that we can offer.

  • For fall quarter, CNAS has a total enrollment of 7,521 students. Of that, we welcome 1,761 first-year students, 384 new transfer students, and 168 new graduate students.
  • Join me in welcoming six new faculty members with expertise that will play a major role in what we can expect this year and in the years ahead.
  • For the third consecutive year, UC Riverside ranked No. 1 in the country for social mobility in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. UCR also moved up in the U.S. News “Most Innovative Schools” category, to No. 26.
  • CNAS offers a variety of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students. Applications for CNAS scholarships are being accepted starting October 1 through October 31.

We have so much to celebrate and be proud of at CNAS. The work we do across the college helps to strengthen UCR as an international leader in education and research. Our collaborative work contributes to advancing and solving some of the world’s most pressing issues. Despite the challenges we face, the CNAS community remains resilient and continues to innovate -- characteristics that position each and every single one of us to thrive. Resources across CNAS are also available to support your success:

Please reach out to any of the CNAS resources that are available to you —we’re here for you.

Stay well, stay healthy, and see you around campus!
