Walk and Talk with Dr. Norman Ellstrand on Dec. 5, 12:15pm

By CNAS Communications |

There are 195 bird species that have been recorded on the UCR campus, making it one of the best campuses for birding in the country. Distinguished Professor of Genetics Norman Ellstrand has been enjoying those birds since his arrival at UCR in 1979 and has been a leader of UCR Botanic Gardens Bird Walks for over a decade.

Want to see some of those birds? Spend a half hour checking out a few of UCR's birdiest places with Norm. With a bit of luck, we will see more than 10 species.

  • Open to all UCR faculty, staff and students
  • Wear comfortable shoes and clothes
  • Raffle prizes
  • Bring binoculars if you have them – limited quantities will be available

December 5, 12:15 - 12:45 pm: the walk starts at the Scotty the Bear Statue at the HUB.
