Professor of Statistics Yehua Li has been selected a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. The honor acknowledged his contributions to the field in research methodology, statistical practices, theory and applications of functional data analysis, dimension reduction and semiparametric statistics, and for his contributions to statistical education.

Distinguished Professor of Mathematics Mark Alber has been named the 2019 Kloosterman Professor at the Mathematical Institute, Leiden University, The Netherlands. He was chosen by the Faculty of Science to visit the the Mathematical Institute in September to engage with the mathematical community in the Netherlands and to give the Kloosterman lecture.
