CNAS Science Ambassador Leadership Team Qualifications and Responsibilities

Purpose:

The Science Ambassador Leadership Team is a group of 5 students who provide leadership to the Science Ambassador Program and help support the outreach and promotion of the college by:
  • Working closely with College leaders and staff
  • Representing the Ambassadors at meetings and providing regular feedback
  • Managing projects identified by the Ambassadors
  • Recruiting new Science Ambassadors and assisting with volunteer management

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must meet CNAS Science Ambassador Application requirements
  • Must be a returning CNAS Science Ambassador

Duties and Responsibilities:

Members of the leadership team must be able to commit to 6 - 8 hours per month (with 1 – 2 hours each week for team meetings and one two-hour meeting a month for the full membership meetings). Meeting these commitments is necessary to remain on the team. See below for specific responsibilities for each leadership role.

President (Team Manager/Supervisor)

  • Preside over team meetings and prepare agendas
  • Communicate regularly with team members
  • Assist with team member assignments and directives
  • Give formal report at general meetings
  • Communicate regularly CNAS program director and coordinator
  • Serve as liaison to other ambassador programs on campus
  • Ensure reliability, consistency and sustainability of Leadership Team

Vice President (Tour Ambassador)

  • Assist president and assume duties in his or her absence
  • Serve as liaison with campus tour department to develop special tours for the college
  • Help train Science Ambassadors to lead CNAS tours
  • Collect recommendations for programs/events from ambassadors and relay to President for review (separate from those identified by the CNAS Dean’s Office)
  • Manage Science Ambassador sponsored events/activities

Vice President (Project Facilitator & Social Coordinator)

  • Assist president and assume duties in his or her absence
  • Serve as liaison with campus tour department to develop special tours for the college
  • Help train Science Ambassadors to lead CNAS tours
  • Collect recommendations for programs/events from ambassadors and relay to President for review (separate from those identified by the CNAS Dean’s Office)
  • Manage Science Ambassador sponsored events/activities

Vice President (Communications & Event Assistant)

  • Assist president and vice presidents and assume duties in his or her absence
  • Works closely with program coordinator on:
    • Contacting members about events and activities
    • Event setup and logistics
  • Assist Program Coordinator as needed

Vice President (Visual Media & Web Development)

  • Assist president and vice presidents and assume duties in his or her absence
  • Regularly review and make update the CNAS Science Ambassador Website
  • Manage new members’ photos and business cards
  • Manage photographs and video recordings of events and activities as required
